Just when I thought we were having the mildest winter ever – I could see buds forming on trees at the end of January!!! – this week, we’ve been buried with over a foot of snow. And while I would love for winter to be over sooner rather than later, I love the comfort foods of winter. This Friday, Real Moms Best Meal Plans features a week long meal plan full of your favorite winter comfort foods, guaranteed to warm you from the inside out! Be sure to download and print your FREE menu and grocery list at the end of this post.
Winter Comfort Foods
February is about the time I’m over winter. The cold, the snow, the bundling up and unbundling every time you go anywhere. The only thing that cures my winter blues is warm, comfort food. And this week long meal plan features 5 of my family’s favorite winter comfort foods!
Winter Week Long Meal Plan
What do you think of when you think of winter comfort foods? Pot Pies. Stews. Stuffing. Crock pots. Casseroles. And we’ve got them all for your this week, in all different combinations.
Monday – Chicken and Stuffing Casserole
Nothing says winter comfort like chicken and stuffing. But what mom with kids has time to make, stuff and cook a whole chicken? This Chicken and Stuffing Casserole makes it all together in one easy casserole dish, and that makes it a Real Mom Meal for sure. All the taste, none of the work and done in just 30-40 minutes.
Tuesday – Hearty Crock Pot Beef Stew
Nothing says warm your tummy like beef stew. And this Hearty Crock Pot Beef Stew is sure to be a crowd pleaser – for real moms who can throw it all together to cook and forget about it, and for your family who will be licking their bowls clean and going to bed with full, warm tummies.
Wednesday – Chicken Pot Pie
When I was little, my mom used to make Chicken Pot Pie as the special comfort meal she would take to friends and family when they were sick or welcoming a new baby. I still think of it as the ultimate comfort food. And this Chicken Pot Pie from Simple Acres is so easy, especially if you use pre-made crust, I can’t think why you wouldn’t make it once a week, all winter long!
Thursday – Slow Cooker Carnitas Tacos
The heat from Arts & Crackers’ slow cooker carnitas tacos gets brightened with citrus and mango, for the perfect flavorful combination that warms your mouth and your belly at the same time. The pork is a nice change of pace from the chicken and beef throughout the rest of the week!
Friday – Lazy Crock Pot Lasagna
Your crock pot will get a work out this week, but it makes life so much easier. You can make this Lazy Crock Pot Lasagna from Spend with Pennies in less than 30 minutes. Prep it at lunch time, and let it cook all afternoon to be ready to go for Friday night dinner, along with a big glass of red wine for you, Super Mama – you deserve it!
