There’s something about the holiday season that brings out the best in most of us… but just like in Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, for some it is also a time of loneliness, sadness and perhaps a chance at rebirth. I’ve always loved the rebirth stories of characters like Scrooge… The curmudgeon about who rumors abound, but as you come to learn their real story, you become more empathetic and uplifted by their awakening. I find this to be the perfect reading theme for the holiday season – and have found 8+ uplifting books for book clubs this month!
This holiday season, Mom’s Book Nook is reading A Man Called Ove, featuring just such a character. Ove is a bitter, cranky old neighbor, who finds unlikely friendship with the young new family next door through the most unlikely of circumstances. If this doesn’t convince you to knock on your angry neighbor’s door with a plate of Christmas cookies, I’m not sure what will!

Read with us at Mom’s Book Nook
Laura and I started Mom’s Book Nook nearly two years ago now. As busy moms, we missed reading and sharing great books with our fellow book lovers, and found we were not alone. Each moth, we choose a book and meet on the last Monday of the month, at 9PM ET to discuss it in our Facebook group, Mom’s Book Nook. Due to the hustle and bustle of the holidays, this month’s pick will be discussed at the end of January – see you on January 30, 2017 at 9PM ET!
Don’t worry, we will still be sharing bookstagrams, book quotes and news from book club favorites in the group and on Instagram, @momsbooknook!
