4 Ways to Unlock Learning with Photos

by Meghan

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Fujifilm Wonder Photo Shop. All opinions are 100% mine.

All children learn differently.  But for early learners, like toddlers and preschoolers, their experiences are maximized through open-ended, active, hands-on learning. It’s one of the reasons my girls love the different photo scavenger hunts we have explored when learning about the stars and architecture this year. But when they are done, there’s just one problem – all their learning is locked up on my smartphone. The opening of the Fujifilm Wonder Photo Shop now let’s them continue their learning fun, turning their photos into tangible books, magnets, puzzles and more! Unlock Hands On Learning with Photos-7

Wonder Photo Shop Makes Preschool Learning Fun

Last weekend, the first Fujifilm Wonder Photo Shop in North America opened in NYC. More than just a retail store, the Wonder Photo Shop allows customers to check out Fujifilm’s latest products, like the instax®camera or sign up for DIY classes to turn your photo memories into lasting projects.  Best of all, you can create prints and photos right from your phone! In-Store Project Ideas for Hands On Learning

The hands-on learning opportunities are endless with the Wonder Photo Shop.  The ability to unlock your digital images and turn them into projects at the store is HUGE! Unlock Hands On Learning with Photos-9 A few simple projects you could share with your toddler might be:

  • DIY ABC Photo Book: Give you child your smartphone or instax®camera and take photos for every letter of the alphabet, from A to Z.  Take your phone into the Fujifilm Wonder Photo Shop, connect to the store’s WiFi and turn your 26 alphabet images into a photo book your child can read and learn from everyday! Pair it with these DIY Tactile Alphabet cards for more learning fun.

  • Learn Numbers with Magnets: Let your child create numbered groupings of their favorite objects (at our house, it would likely be princesses or ponies). Take photos of 1 object, 2 objects, 3 objects, and so on up to 10. Head into the Wonder Photo Shop and print your photos as magnets.  Using a cookie sheet or magnet board, your freshly printed magnets and number magnets, have your child match the numbers to the groups of objects. A super easy preschool learning game to reinforce number recognition, one-to-one correspondence and add to your preschool math manipulatives.

  • Architecture Vocabulary Map: Take a field trip to the Fujifilm Wonder Photo Shop.  En route, snap some pics of the iconic architecture – the Chrysler Building, the new Freedom Tower, the Empire State Building, or the famous Flatiron Building right up the street. Choose one to blow up to wall poster size.  Cut out the words on our Architectural Scavenger Hunt checklist and use them as labels to identify the landmark’s architectural features!
  • NYC Memory Book: Visiting NYC on your summer family vacation? Or taking a preschool field trip to the museum, theater, Statue of Liberty or other famous NYC attraction? Add the Wonder Photo Shop to your itinerary at the end of the trip. What better way to end a trip than by taking home a completed memory photo book!
