It has been a very, long winter… So long, that I’ve been willing to do just about anything to keep Big M happily entertained in doors. Enter, Massive Floor Mural…
Rainy Day Fun with Massive Floor Murals
This requires very basic craft supplies, that you can turn to again and again for an endless supply of rainy day fun!
Supplies:
Craft Paper
Markers
StickersCost: Less than $20 (and you can use the markers and paper again and again!)
Prep Time: Less than 5 minutes
Clean-Up Time: Less than 5 minutes
This has become an activity Big M now requests again and again… I roll out the brown paper down the length of our dining and family room, which is a good 20’+ long. I put out the markers, colors, stickers, and sometimes cookie cutters for tracing, and let her have at it. Now, Big M is a very careful and neat child – she has never tried to color on the wall, but I still don’t leave her unattended with markers. You can get a 100’+ roll of builder’s paper to use as craft paper for about $10. It is available from Amazon at the link above, or you can find it at your local Lowe’s or Home Depot too.
This is another great activity to let them explore the creativity or use as a teaching opportunity. She likes to group stickers that are the same together. Sometimes, she puts a sticker down and we draw a picture around it. Other times, we practice our letters, shapes or colors. Sometimes, I just let her do her own thing. It’s also fun when Lil’ M gets in on the action! On rough weather days, I leave it rolled out on the floor and she comes back to it periodically over the course of the day. When it’s time for the end of day clean up, I roll it up, stickers and all, and keep it in the corner, to roll out again on another day.
