You spend hours filling eggs, creating a diversion to sneak out and hide them all… the egg hunt itself is over in 10-15 minutes tops. Now what? Whether you are planning your preschooler’s Easter party at school or need some Easter ideas to burn off those chocolate bunny highs, these Kids Easter Party Games are sure to do the trick!
Kids Easter Party Games
After being cooped up for winter, every second the sun is out, my girls want to be outside. And who can blame them? With Easter just around the corner, we had been using plastic eggs for counting and sorting indoors, but with friendlier skies this week, decided to take them into the backyard for some outdoor fun and Easter games!
All you need are supplies you already have on hand to celebrate the big day – an Easter basket, colored plastic eggs, and while optional, colored containers to match the eggs add an element of fun to these games as well.
Easter Basket Egg Toss
Up first, an Easter Basket Egg Toss. Set an Easter basket in the center of the playing area. Position each child equidistant from the basket with an equal number of plastic eggs. It is helpful for each child to have a single color, so when they miss, they can chase down their own eggs.
Children have a natural tendency to throw overhand – encourage them to toss the egg underhand to give them more aim and control. Whoever gets all their eggs into the basket first, wins!
Mixed ages? Have children stand 1 foot away from the basket for every year old they are. Or add more eggs to older kids buckets.
Easter Egg Relays
Line children along a starting line, each with a container of 5 eggs. Place another container for each child opposite them, 15-20 feet away. As quickly as they can, transfer the eggs from the starting line to the opposite container, one egg at a time. Whoever transfers all their eggs and gets back to the starting line first, wins!
Need more of a challenge? Place the containers farther apart. Or give kids spoons to use to balance eggs on for the transfer.
Easter Egg Color Sorting
And the next day, when they want to play them all again… let your toddler practice sorting all the eggs by color. She came up with this one all on her own!
