Dance classes for kids are a great way to expose them to movement, music, rhythm and more! It is also the first available option for organized activity that isn’t a Mommy & Me-style class, aiding in independence and preparing toddlers who may never have had a caregiver other than their mom for preschool. See the full list below, along with our featured favorites!
Dance Classes for Kids
Dance classes for kids are an awesome opportunity to expose a gross motor activity at a young age, combining movement, rhythm, balance and music. While many area organized sports are not open to children until 3-4 years of age, several area dance studios offer classes for children as young as 18-24 months.
Please note that most programs enroll in August for classes running during the academic year, September to May/June, with recitals in May and June. Younger children (Tiny Dancers) may be enrolled on a rolling basis, depending on the school, and may or may not appear in recitals.
These Dance Studios have supplied their information for inclusion in our list, or we have personal experience attending classes there. If you would like your studio to be featured, please contact me with studio details and class offerings.
Kinderdance programs are offered as in integral part of your child’s preschool program. Taught on-site at childcare facilities and other viable locations, Kinderdance offers education through dance, motor development, gymnastics, and fitness blended with numbers, colors, shapes, words, and songs for children ages 15 months to 12 years.

Lee Lund Studio of Dance
Lee Lund Studio of Dance has been family owned and operated in downtown Milford since 1983. All of the studios teachers are highly experienced, with either teaching degrees, professional dance experience or both… even those teaching the youngest class offered! Tiny Dancers is open to students aged 22 months to 2.5 years.
Both of my girls started at Lee Lund in the Tiny Dancer program, and fell in love with dance from the moment their toes stepped on the old Firehouse floors. Children in Intro to Dance (ages 3 and up) and beyond perform in an annual recital each June.
Lee Lund also offers Summer Camps and Summer Classes. See their website for the latest class schedules.
