All-Natural Red, White & Blue Popsicles

by Meghan

Last week, we went strawberry picking with a group of Big M’s preschool friends.  It was a productive outing, and we came home with over 8 pounds of freshly picked strawberries!  Tomorrow, I’ll be sharing over 50 different ways to put all those strawberries to use, but one looked so good, we had to try it immediately.  We used this Fruit & Yogurt Popsicles recipe from The Life of Jennifer Dawn to create our own festive, all-natural, Red, White & Blue Popsicles.

Red White and Blue Popsicles

All-Natural Red, White & Blue Popsicles

While her recipe uses one berry or the other, we made three batches of popsicle blend: strawberry, blueberry and yogurt.  This created our three-layer, patriotic mix!  You only need 4 basic ingredients: fruit, yogurt, milk and a sweetener of your choosing.

Ingredients:

Fruit (strawberries, blueberries or any other fruit you choose)
Yogurt
Milk
Sweetener (sugar, honey, agave sweetener)

Directions:

For complete directions, please see the recipe at The Life of Jennifer Dawn.  The only changes we made were using sugar, in lieu of agave sweetener.  We also used plain, greek yogurt, so for a little added flavor, I put in a splash of vanilla in the vanilla only blend.

Red White and Blue Popsicles - Delicious!

The girls couldn’t wait for these to freeze so they could eat them.  It also feels great to offer them a treat that has all-natural ingredients in it; no food coloring, no chemicals.  And since they are homemade, you know exactly what is in them!
