Simple DIY Crafts for Kids & We Love Weekends

by Meghan

Happy Friday, y’all!  If you’re new here, welcome!  I’m Meghan, the founder of Playground Parkbench.  I write about parenting, household tips, and at-home activities for kids.  Every Friday, I partner with four of my fellow bloggers to bring you We Love Weekends, an open forum for our favorite family-friendly bloggers to share their best ideas with you so you and your family will love the weekend too!  I also feature my favorite posts from the week before – this week’s features include some great, simple DIY crafts for kids to keep them entertained on these long, hot summer days!

Featured Simple DIY Crafts for Kids

With the kids out of school, and long summer days, I am always on the lookout for great at-home activity ideas, and simple DIY toys we can create together.  Last week’s link-up featured some of the best I’ve seen yet!

First up, summer means berry season.  Just a Mom took this seasonal produce and let her daughter use fresh blackberries as natural fingerpaint!  What a great sensory play idea, and a perfect simple, outdoor craft for kids.

Next up, we love this simple DIY nightlight from Sunny Day Family.  The Glow in the Dark Ocean Bottle also doubles as a great sensory play bottle: use it for counting, I spy, and more!

And last but not least, another great idea from Little Worlds, Big Adventures.  If you’re in need of some last minute Independence Day party decor, affordable decorations for your next birthday party, or even just to add a little festivity to your living room on your next rainy day, don’t miss this simple DIY Paper Bunting.  I can’t wait to try it – do it with colored paper or even patterned scrapbook paper for endless possibilities!
