Mom’s Book Nook – A Virtual Book Club

A little over a year ago now, my friend Laura from Sunny Day Family joined me in building Mom’s Book Nook.  A virtual book club, we offer a way for busy, book loving moms with crazy schedules to still participate in something they love – book club!

We announce a new book selection every month, on the first Monday of the month.  Then, we meet up in our Mom’s Book Nook group on Facebook to discuss the selection on the last Monday of the month (April 25th) at 9 PM ET!  All are welcome – all you have to do to participate is read with us!

You can also join our community on Instagram at @MomsBookNook and Goodreads!

April 2016 Selection

With the movie set for release this September, we have selected Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children as our book nook selection this month.  You might want to keep the lights on while reading this one! And if you finish early, be sure to check out the rest of the trilogy.

About the Book

Following the death of his grandfather, teenage Jacob travels to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Exploring the bedrooms and hallways, Jacob realizes the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous, and quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

About the Author

Ransom Riggs grew up in Maryland and Florida, and began writing stories and taking photos as a child.  After attending Kenyon College, he studied film at USC.  Miss Peregrine’s was born out of his passion for vintage photography and bizarre stories.  Learn more about Ransom Riggs and the origins of Miss Peregrine’s in this NY Times profile and interview.
