Princess Printable Stationery for Preschoolers

I had a huge mommy fail this weekend.  Every morning, I let the girls watch one show while I get breakfast together, lunches made and feed the baby.  These days, it is usually Sofia the First.  And for weeks, Big M (age 4), has been begging me to write her letter to Sofia.  Today, I finally went online to figure out how to do it, and turns out you had to submit your letter by the end of 2015 to get a reply.  Talk about one sad preschooler.  To cheer her up, I created this fun Princess Printable Stationery and started researching who else she could send a letter to and get a reply.

Princess Printable Stationary - 8 Unique Princess Pages

Printable Stationery & Places to Write!

Who doesn’t love getting mail?  And I don’t mean the bills and junk mail you get inundated with as a grown-up.  I still get a thrill from receiving actual cards and packages in the mail. And ever since her unit at preschool last year on Community Helpers, Big M loves getting mail too.

So the ad on Disney Jr. to write to Sofia, her favorite show of the moment, and get a letter back was very exciting.  Every time she saw it, she would ask if we could do it.  I would say yes, but not today… and then today, when I finally got on the computer to print out the special princess letterhead and figure out how to do it, I discovered it was over.  Before I could break her little heart, I had to find a way to let her down easily.

Princess Printable Stationery

I got to work creating this Princess Printable Stationery, featuring 8 unique, lined pages with princess watermarks, and letter greeting and signature.

8 People to Write to Who Will Write Back

Armed with princess paper, now I just needed to find someone she could write to who would send her a letter back.  Turns out Sofia wasn’t the first character to make that offer.

1. The President of the United States

The White House encourages us to use 21st century technology and email them, but you can still send a letter.  To insure your letters gets to the White House as quickly as possible, and to increase the likelihood of a reply:

  • Consider typing your letter.  If handwritten, use ink and write as neatly as possible
  • Include return address on both letter itself and envelope
  • Include email address on your letter
  • Mail to:

The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Big M was not interested in writing to President Obama.  So I pitched up the next idea…

2. Disney Princesses (and Other Characters)

The results on this one seem to be a bit mixed, but you can write letters to Disney Princesses and other characters, like Mickey Mouse.  You *may* receive, in return, a 5×7 character postcard back in return, though it may not feature the specific character you wrote to.

I would recommend including your return address on the letter itself, as well as the envelope, in case they are separated. Mail your letter to:

Guest Experience Services: Character Fan Mail
Walt Disney World Resort
Post Office Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-0040

3. Arthur and Friends

Any Arthur fans out there?  The famous Marc Brown series is now a series on PBS Kids.  Visit the show’s website to write a letter to any of the main characters, including Arthur, The Brain, Sue Ellen, Francine and others.

Complete your letter, Madlibs-style, and submit it online to instantly receive a reply, signed by the character you chose. Not snail-mail, but fun, nonetheless!

4. Amazing Kids Pen Pal Program

Amazing Kids is a not-for profit organization that provides enrichment for kids and teens around the globe.  They help facilitate a pen pal program for children globally, both for individual families and classrooms.  Registration is required to be matched with a pen pal and includes a parent agreement form and $10 donation.  Learn more about the program and register here.

5. World Wise Schools – Peace Corp Correspondence Match Program

The Peace Corp facilitates 2-year correspondence relationships through its World Wise Schools Match Program.  While this is intended more for the classroom, where a current Peace Corp volunteer communicates with a teacher and their entire class, it is a service also available for parents homeschooling their children.

6. Family

In today’s modern world, many of us live far from where we grew up, and have relatives – aunts, uncles, cousins – all over.  Do any have kids similar in age to your own?  Coordinate to strike up a pen pal correspondence.  It’s a great way to stay connected with family around the country and beyond.

7. Friends Who Move Away

Big M is only 4, and she already has had 3 good friends move away.  All were part of our local playgroup, and while I keep in touch with the moms on Facebook, Big M often asks me about her friends she no longer gets to see.  Friends who move away are a great option for having pen pal correspondence with!

8. Santa

The big man in red himself!  Every kid writes a letter to Santa every year.  But did you know you can send them so Santa will write back?!? Register with northpole.com.  Your child can write a letter to Santa online and receive a reply.  As a parent, you can also view their letter, send packages from the North Pole, and sign them up to receive a birthday postcard from Santa too!

So, I’ll give you one guess who Big M chose to write to first… Disney Princesses!  She wrote a letter to Tiana and one to Aurora.  The first one she dictated to me, and I wrote it out.  The second she wrote herself while I was helping her sister, then asked if I could write it for her underneath.

Nice idea. However I’m not sure who failed to catch the glaring misspelling in your advertisement, and throughout your document.
Stationary means standing still, or in a fixed place.
e.g. I used the stationary bike at the gym.
Stationery is the paper used when writing letters or documents.
e.g. Princess printable stationery is a good idea.
Remember :
E as in LETTER is the spelling for STATIONERY
A as in STAY is the spelling for STATIONARY
Perhaps you need an educator/ grammarian as a proofreader.
Pehaps equally problematic is that no customers or Pinterest readers have brought this to your attention. ( I assume…)
Good luck!

Thank you for bringing it to my attention – I am a work at home mom, one woman show also raising 3 children. We all make mistakes – thank you for catching mine.

It’s online – but you can print the reply they send! Or set up a parent account and write your own reply too 😉
